Network Design and Engineering.

Tech Mahindra’s Network Design and Engineering (NDE) practice has extensive experience in applications & network performance, along with network operations, planning and designing. Being accredited with internationally recognized certifications, we have served numerous tier-1 customers across the world.

Service Offerings:

Application Performance Engineering (CRM/Portal/SDP Applications etc.):

  • Non-functional design
  • Performance prediction – using tools like OPNET etc.
  • Performance testing – Using performance testing tools such as Loadrunner etc.
  • Performance monitoring and tuning – Using tools such as Wily, Tech Mahindra’s ePR toolset etc.
  • Performance audit, troubleshooting and tuning

Radio Network Engineering:

  • Planning of CDMA/GSM and 3G Radio Networks
  • Study of topology and utilization of radio network
  • Radio Network Optimization to cater to network issues e.g. coverage, voice quality and congestion
  • Radio Network Benchmarking to assess network performance vis-à-vis competitions
  • Provide IBS and radio repeater solutions

Core Network:

  • Planning & design of core network
  • Verification & validation of the core network design
  • Audit of routing and system database
  • Plan for migration to Next Generation Networks

Transmission Network:

  • Validation of transmission network design
  • Audit of back-bone structure with redundancy plan
  • Utilization mapping of path/ring
  • Audit of cost-effectiveness of the rings and recommendations on re-orientation/ splitting for optimum hardware usage
  • Monitoring of alternate transmission network and advantages to cater to future expandability

NOC – Design & Implementation:

  • DCN (Data Core Network) design required to bring together all the alarms to centralized location
  • Propose Infrastructure required inside NOC
  • Software/OSS solutions for the NOC functional units
  • Resource distribution for (24 x 7) NOC Management

Data Quality Management:

  • Synchronization of available logical and physical data
  • Data Cleansing to ensure data correctness, integrity, uniformity, consistency
  • Inside plant and outside plant data cleansing

Business Benefits:

  • Reduce design and development iterations, total ownership and redesign costs
  • Reduce operational costs due to improved Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) and the ability to predict performance issues
  • Improve earnings by optimizing the usage of network and application
  • Seamless network and application operation by proactive management and fixing of performance bottlenecks
  • Improve customer satisfaction by higher availability of applications and services
  • Increase internal user productivity with higher network and application availability and reduced time in waiting for helpdesk and other administrative functions
  • Reduce attrition and customer churn by providing improved customer experience.
  • Ability to make dynamic iterations to designs made easier by creating model networks, using a computer, which could otherwise be difficult to achieve through mathematical models
  • Use of field-proven tools and mature processes based on Tech Mahindra’s relationship with the tool vendor
  • Ability to achieve a high degree of detailing that could even be extended to scrutinize specific design problems in parts of a network and analyze for a solution
  • Fine-tune the model of the network to simulate the network accurately providing a readymade starting point for further requirements of expansion and migration
  • End to end services portfolio starting with planning and modeling to cleansing of network data allowing operators to increase profitability and improve quality of service
  • Reduction in provisioning and repair OPEX
  • Profitability increased through more efficient use of network assets
  • Optimise time to delivery (by more than 75 %)
  • Synchronisation between logical and physical ensures minimal backlog

Success Story

“We are very happy with the capacity planning recommendations provided by Tech Mahindra. They confirm our belief that some of the Servers are being underutilized and some of the others would be a bottleneck in the future.” Senior Manager - Leading Telecom Company
“The performance modeling work has given us confidence in the ability of the Tech Mahindra team to understand and interpret complex design and requirements and to translate this into a performance model.”
  • Saved £38M/year by improving response time from 41 sec to 3 sec using performance testing and tuning approach with zero investment on capacity enhancements
  • Saved £2.25M/month incurred through cost of penalty of Ofcom EOI non functional requirements by completing Performance testing within the stipulated time
  • 60% saving in cost for benchmarking / for carrying out scalability analysis using simulation approach
  • 45% Reduction in CAPEX and 32% OPEX through Server consolidation
  • On an average 30% of the bottlenecks on a CRM platform are fixed in 3 days instead of 15 days
