AS Murthy, or ASM as he is called by his colleagues, is primarily responsible for bringing forth dynamic learning interventions for the global associates, in Tech Mahindra’s quest to transform itself from an IT to a Digital organization. He also provides leadership to all Location Councils across TechM in order to keep the organization agile and a dream place to work at.
ASM joined erstwhile Satyam (now Tech Mahindra) in January 1994 and has a deep understanding of the IT industry. He brings proven expertise in overseeing global delivery, nurturing customer relationships, leading business units and spearheading the strategic use of human resources for competitive advantage.
During February to June 2009, as the Chief Executive Officer at erstwhile Satyam, ASM led the company through turbulent times with great efficiency and tremendous commitment.
In the past 22 years, ASM has played several key roles in the company, such as the Head of Global Delivery, Head of Leadership Development, Head of Human Resources and Head of the insurance vertical and Chief Technology Officer among others.
An electrical engineer from National Institute of Technology (NIT / REC) – Warangal (1974 – 79), ASM started his career with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in 1981, after completing his Master’s degree in School of Automation (Computer Science) from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore (1979 – 81).
ASM is recognized for cultivating a culture of each associate believing that he / she is a ‘leader’ at erstwhile Satyam, enabling "ordinary people to do extraordinary things" through formal mentoring programs, comprehensive attitude and skills development, continuous learning and a process-centric approach to things.
