Satyam’s participation in the ‘Hyderabad 10K Run’ adds to colour and magnitude of the Event
Hyderabad, India, November 25, 2007 – About 1000 Satyam associates and their families turned up in large numbers on a cold, early Sunday morning to be a part of the Hyderabad 10K Run. In addition, Satyam sponsored 100 Students from Government Schools adopted by the Satyam Foundation, 70 Citizens from the Satyam’s adopted community, 50 Students from Satyam’s IT Training center, 50 Street Children and 30 Trash collectors from adopted neighborhoods.
In keeping with the spirit of family participation, the Satyam contingent was flagged off to a good start by Ms. Nandini Raju, Managing Trustee, Satyam Foundation and Director, Byrraju Foundation.
Dr. Balaji Utla, Head-Satyam Foundation said, “Our main objective in participating in the Hyderabad 10K run bring together associates and their families, as well as some of the less privileged sections of the society, while simultaneously highlighting various socially relevant issues concerning the focus areas. Satyam Foundation has brought together children and adults from our various projects to give them an opportunity to participate in this city event.”
Dressed in T-Shirts, there was a lot of enthusiasm to get started. Some ran, but most walked – in keeping with the true spirit of participation.
The Satyam Foundation is the CSR arm of Satyam Computer Services Ltd., focused on facilitating transformation of the urban underprivileged through strategic initiatives in the form of sustainable, scalable and replicable model projects. Satyam’s focus areas have been Education, health, livelihoods, HIV/AIDS, Street Children, Environment – Community & Informal Settlements Initiatives and Environment – Corporate initiatives.
This event is organized by an independent trust “The Hyderabad 10K Foundation” on the last Sunday of November every year and this is the (how many years) of the event.
