Cairo, August 20, 2009: Tech Mahindra, the new brand identity of Satyam Computer Services Ltd. (NYSE:SAY), a leading global consulting and IT services provider, is currently focusing on enhancing its operations in the Middle East & North Africa (MENA) region, with the launch of its ‘ERP Shared Support Services’, a new service delivery model offering its ERP customers support services for Oracle and SAP in the region through its Global Solution Center (GSC) in Egypt. The company further revealed that the unveiling of the new service delivery model is set to leverage the Egypt GSC as a resource hub for the region and is aimed at delivering value to its customers through unmatched quality of service.
The announcement follows the recent unveiling of the company’s new brand identity - 'Tech Mahindra’ - which draws from the core values of the Mahindra Group and the inherent strength of the Satyam brand and is in line with its commitment to offer integrated solution offerings to its customers in MENA region. Tech Mahindra plans to expand its footprint in the region in key emerging verticals like Banking, Financial services and Insurance (BFSI), Aviation, Manufacturing, Real Estate and Construction, and Telecom, among others; and offer service solutions across areas like Oracle, SAP, Industry Vertical Solutions, Integrated Engineering Services, Business Intelligence, Infrastructure Management Services, and Business Process Outsourcing, which have been key strengths of the company.
In line with Tech Mahindra’s top priority to offer value to customers, the ‘ERP Shared Support Services’ will benefit them with the lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) at global quality standards adopted by Mahindra Satyam. The company’s strengths, in addition to its pool of Arabic speaking resources, will boost the value offered by ’ERP Shared Support Services’ to customers, which also include maximising system uptime and delivery continuity; continual improvement and maximum utilisation of state-of-the art infrastructure; flexibility in ramping up and ramping down the resources, based on business demand; and flexibility to choose from multiple pricing options.

Leveraging the company’s pool of experienced and skilled resources, the GSC in Cairo has successfully built a strong repute in targeted areas like ERP Practice (Oracle & SAP), telecom, infrastructure and business process outsourcing, in addition, to its strength of multi-lingual resources, maximising system uptime and delivery continuity. Amidst a steadily rising IT spending and a growing IT services market, Tech Mahindra has selected Egypt as the location for its first GSC in the Middle East and African sub-continent.
“In the face of the economic downturn, we are optimistic of the potential in initiating solutions via shared services component to help cater to the changing needs of clients. We are targeting growth of around 100 per cent in the first year, which we are confident to achieve given the GSC’s strong capacity to provide support services for SAP and Oracle customers,” concluded Kunwar.
Located in Smart Village, Giza, the GSC is a 2,100 sq. meter state-of-the-art centre that aims to train about 300 personnel to serve as a major technological development and software support group for Tech Mahindra's customers in the Middle East. Its facilities include two training labs, video conferencing, high-speed networks and 24/7 connectivity to all other global locations. As the cornerstone of Tech Mahindra’s strategy in the region, the GSC will mainly house locals and is headed by Mohamed I. Embaby, an Egyptian national. Following the GSC launch in Cairo, Tech Mahindra was named the first ‘Strategic Services’ partner for SAP in the Middle East and North Africa.
