India/China/Singapore – September 05, 2013– Tech Mahindra, a specialist provider of connected solutions to the connected world and enabling future digital enterprises, said it is witnessing strong demand for IT & Engineering solutions in China, driven by local enterprises upgrading productivity through technology and international retail brands seeking solutions to tap the fast-growing domestic consumer market.
In a message to the September 11-13 Dalian World Economic Forum (WEF) which the India Head-Quartered global IT solutions company is participating in as a strategic partner, Tech Mahindra said it has been adding 70 associates every quarter for its China operations and is on track to triple the total headcount to 1,500 by 2015.
Tech Mahindra will be represented at the World Economic Forum by Ramesh Iyer, CEO of Mahindra Financial Services; Rohit Gandhi, Senior Vice President, Asia- Pacific, India& MEA and Amitava Ghosh, Vice President and Head, North Asia. The three will be among 1,500 global business leaders from 90 countries who will participate at the Forum.
“Amidst the uncertainties in the global markets and rising labor costs across the country, China-based manufacturers are embracing technology at a much faster pace than before to maintain their competitive edge. Hence, we are seeing very strong traction for our engineering solutions,” said Rohit Gandhi, Senior Vice President- Asia Pac, India & MEA, Tech Mahindra.
In line with its focus in providing Connected Solutions, Tech Mahindra is helping Chinese automakers in designing smarter, more connected future cars, which include electronic power steering, human machine interface and infotainment, while helping the car makers attain quality certification.
“At the same time, Tech Mahindra is witnessing significantly higher demand from international retail brands seeking to penetrate or enlarge their market presence in China,” Gandhi added. “We have recently helped at least nine major global corporations in their China retail rollout, providing consultancy for sales and marketing, applications and IT support solutions for them.”
The theme of this year’s Annual Meeting of the New Champions is ‘Meeting the Innovation Imperative’, which accurately depicts Tech Mahindra’s focus on innovation through IT in China enterprise business.
Tech Mahindra’s business activity in China in the financial year ended March 2014 grew approximately 50% year-on-year, more than twice the rate of global growth rate for the Company. The engineering sector accounts for 65% of Tech Mahindra’s revenue in China.
The company, since 2002 has operations in China with offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing and Guangzhou.
