About the Client

The client was a large IT product company looking to migrate critical enterprise applications to Azure PaaS and IaaS.

Problem Overview

The client wanted to carry out the migration of 16 critical sales and marketing IT applications hosted on 110 on-premise servers to Azure (IaaS, PaaS) after setting up VMs on Azure. It involved moving finance IT applications hosted on 4000 on-premise servers to Azure (IaaS). The client engaged Tech Mahindra for the project.

Solution

Tech Mahindra procured Azure cloud virtual infrastructure to migrate 240 applications hosted on 4000 servers across several data centers within the US. These migrations involved SQL with the creation of databases, back and restore DBs as major activities. IIS migrations involved website creation and app pool management as major IIS tasks. About 40 applications (IaaS) on 230 servers were migrated. Tools like Octopus has been used to copy the application code bits and Release Manager tool to install the bits.
