The client is the largest global manufacturer of industrial rotating equipment.

Challenges

The client was struggling with unplanned shutdowns and maintenance that created a domino effect across the entire value chain. In addition to affecting production and disrupting supply chains in manufacturing companies, the unexpected downtime for mission-critical equipment had significant cost implications for the business. What made the problem worse was that the equipment was at hard-to-access locations that made its management and maintenance difficult.

How Tech Mahindra Helped

To solve this issue, the experts from TechM developed an E2E custom-built "Decision Automation" solution from sensor-to-cloud-based analytics (on Azure Suite). They started with the integration of sensors and communication devices with equipment to enable real-time remote equipment health monitoring and identifying any deviation in its routine working.

They also leveraged applied statistics for predictive maintenance and enable forecasting future events and behavior patterns. This allowed predicting future failures and preventing the motor from failure, which resulted in reducing non-productive time, preventing unexpected downtime and scheduling maintenance strategically when the equipment was not in use.

Outcome

The solution enabled operational efficiency through automation of data acquisition and analytics Predictive maintenance enhanced the reliability of equipment. It reduced equipment failures and maximized uptime and ensured the high availability of critical equipment. Using dashboards based on the measures and target values, the client was able to monitor the equipment's health, performance, and operational reporting.
