Containerization has largely become an industry trend and is revolutionizing the overall software development life cycle. It requires bringing together software code and all its dependencies into a single packaged image that can consistently run across Platform/Infrastructure. Concept of containerization is a decade old but never been a success story until Docker Engine emerged as a game changer for many.

RedHat adopted this technology and built a suite of products under OpenShift Portfolio. Customers have adopted OpenShift solutions and platforms for building modern applications and they were pre-dominantly based on container platform built for on-premise based deployment. With recent adoption of cloud services, a similar OpenShift Platform could be developed on AWS either through an OCP (OpenShift Container Platform) or OSD (OpenShift Dedicated).

In OCP, Customers choose to deploy and manage the environment along with their applications. Customers need to manage the cluster deployment, tools and integration that are necessary to manage the OCP. It also requires additional skillset to maintain the OCP. On the other hand, OSD provides customer to have a fully managed service offered by RedHat and requires customers to manage only the application. These two deployment options have considerable overhead in terms of managing the integration with AWS Services, varying license charges for the platform and the products that are offered through OCP or OSD.

With the recent product GA announcement, RedHat OpenShift Service on AWS(ROSA) will be a great addition to customers who are migrating their workloads to AWS. Customers will have options to modernize the applications through RedHat OpenShift Platform Service on AWS or migrate their existing RedHat OpenShift based container workloads using existing workflows with clean integration with other AWS Services. ROSA comes with a 99.95% availability SLA and a stable/consistent product deployment experience. It also offers a flexible billing service that provide the customers with a unified billing experience across various products that are necessary for OpenShift deployment. Also, Customers can procure ROSA from the console and pay by the hour.

Tech Mahindra has been working closely with many customers to modernize and migrate workloads to AWS. With this release of ROSA offering, Tech Mahindra will embrace the change and add value to our customers through its enhanced service offering by migrating the workloads to AWS ROSA or OpenShift Platform on AWS. We are planning to migrate few of our existing customers workload to AWS ROSA as the product is Generally Available. We are delighted to offer this service to other customers who can capitalize their existing AWS Platform.
