A prominent media and information service provider divesting its Financial and Risk division required an autonomous network environment. Operating across a widely dispersed footprint, the company faced modernization challenges due to a legacy network stack, multiple technology providers, and limited network visibility.

Tech Mahindra implemented the Network-as-a-Service (NaaS) model that integrated SD-WAN, LAN, WLAN, security, cloud connectivity, and managed network services to simplify and centralize global network operations. Supporting more than 200 locations, the model reduced network OPEX by 37%, improved service reliability, modernized legacy infrastructure, and established a scalable, cloud-connected foundation for global operations.

Industry Challenge

The client is a global media and information service provider operating in more than 75 countries across over 200 locations and 24 data centers, supporting nearly 25,000 users. Following an organizational separation, the company launched an initiative to establish an autonomous network environment.

The initiative led to key operational challenges, including:

  • Complex Network Separation
  • Aging Global Network
  • Multi-Provider Environment
  • Limited Network Visibility
  • Cloud-First Requirements

Our Approach and Solution

Independent Global WAN

Designed and implemented a new global WAN architecture that eliminated shared legacy network dependencies.

Cloud-Integrated Central Network

Built the Omega Core network to connect regional platforms across EMEA, APAC, and the Americas through Equinix interconnection points.

Network-as-a-Service Model

Deployed the NaaS Model by integrating WAN, LAN, WLAN, security, cloud connectivity, transport services, and managed network services.

SD-WAN Transformation

Transitioned over 200 sites to an SD-WAN architecture with application-aware routing, local internet breakout, transport-agnostic connectivity, and centralized orchestration.

Centralized Network Operations

Established Network Operations Centers in India and Hungary to unify monitoring, governance, reporting, incident management, and service management.

Phased Operational Transition

Implemented a phased Walk-In Takeover (WITO) program covering planning, knowledge transfer, governance, and service transition from incumbent providers across regions.

Security and Automation

Integrated cloud-based internet and remote-access security services with centralized tools to improve operational visibility and service delivery.

Business and Community Impact

The network transformation delivered operational and service outcomes across the company, including:

  • 37% reduction in network OPEX through network modernization, simplified operations, and NaaS deployment.
  • 99.9% SLA performance and network uptime, improving service reliability and supporting business continuity across the global network.
  • 40% faster delivery of network services and infrastructure rollout initiatives, increasing business responsiveness.
  • 100% modernization of end-of-support and end-of-life inventory, reducing technical debt.
  • Centralized governance and visibility supporting a scalable, cloud-connected network.
