On June 12, 2026, three days after launch, Anthropic disabled global access to Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5. This was in response to a US government export-control directive barring foreign nationals, including Anthropic's own employees, from using either model. Since there was no path to comply selectively, Anthropic pulled the models for everyone.
